Owen Kahn focuses his practice on appellate litigation in state and federal courts. His appellate cases range from appeals of final judgments in Florida divorce cases, to appeals of convictions in federal drug cases, to appeals of immigration decisions both within and outside of the federal immigration system.

Owen Kahn practices immigration law in two primary areas:

  • Representing and advising clients (and criminal defense lawyers) on the immigration consequences of criminal convictions for aliens in immigrant and non-immigrant status, and for aliens seeking U.S. citizenship;
  • Petitioning the government to grant residence visas to clients who are particularly talented in their fields—qualifying as aliens of extraordinary ability, national interest waiver beneficiaries, or outstanding professors or researchers.

Owen Kahn also runs the firm’s general practice: covering family law, commercial litigation, international law, professional licensing and discipline, and administrative law.

He has researched and published on a range of subjects in academia and legal practice, including “The Constitutional Foundations of Immigration Law,” in LexisNexis Matthew Bender’s multi-volume treatise, Immigration Law and Procedure (also published on CD-Rom and by Lexis.com). For his other publications, see the publications page on this website.

Owen Kahn holds a B.A. from Oxford University in England, a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley, and a J.D. (cum laude) from the University of Miami School of Law.
